Social Media > Measurement

Once an Implementation Plan is in place, we will help you select and set up daily monitoring tools as well as tools that will measure the success of your strategy.

Monitoring

Daily monitoring of activity in your ecosystem can be time-consuming. Fortunately there are various tools that can make the job easier.  We can help you review what is available, advise on what to use and even set up the tools for you.

Measurement

As part of the social media strategy, goals are set up and should be measured on – at least – a quarterly basis.  The method we typically use to measure the improvements in a company’s social capital is the NCP Model. It looks at the Network, Contributions, and level of Participation in your ecosystem. As in the real world, within the social media some people are contributors, a larger number participate in a responsive way, and an even larger number primarily view what the others have said. All of these people count; collectively they are the network.

  • Network
    Number of connections and followers
  • Contributions
Contributions to the Ecosystem: Blog posts, video clips, events, knowledge posts, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter
  • Participation
Comments on blogs and on the content. Views on places like DIgg, Delicious, YouTube, etc.

This measurement can be qualified by charting the shift in sentiment (positive, neutral, negative) and the shifts in actual topics that are being discussed, as well as measurements that are unique to your strategic goals in the social media.
